The Avon Tyres British
GT Championship
showcases the most
prestigious, stylish and
fastest sportscar grid
of any national
motorsport championship
in Europe. In 2008 the
UK calendar includes six
events featuring2 x 1
hour races, with a
further two events
hosting 1 x 2 hour
races. Each racecar has
two drivers.
As recognised pioneers
for sportscar racing,
British GT continued the
trend in 2007 with the
placement of GT3 as the
Championship’s flagship
category and resulted in
the closest finish for
many years with nine
drivers fighting for the
overall British GT title
at the season finale.
GT3 has paved the way
for the world’s best
supercar machinery to be
raced and maintained on
an affordable budget.
New for 2008 is the
introduction of GT4,
which has replaced GTC
as the supporting
category in the British
GT Championship, and is
aimed at large
production cars with
lower power/weight
ratios than that of the
GT3 classification. GT4
is a cost effective
category that has
already attracted a
number of top level
entries in its inaugural
year in the British GT
Championship.
For the fans, British GT
offers a spectacular
motorsport experience.
With glamorous supercars
racing bumper-to-bumper,
ground shaking noise,
breathtaking speeds and
all the drama of pit
stops and driver
change-overs, British GT
racing is not to be
missed.
